Sports psychology

Performance isn't determined by physical capacity alone. Sports psychology develops the mental skills to perform at your best.

What is Sports psychology?

Sports psychology applies psychological knowledge and techniques to athletic performance. It addresses focus, confidence, resilience, coping with pressure and recovering from setbacks or injury.

Sports psychology is not limited to elite athletes. The mental skills developed, focus, goal-setting, emotional regulation, are highly transferable to professional and personal life.

Evidence base: Research demonstrates the effectiveness of mental imagery, goal-setting, self-talk and routines in improving athletic performance and resilience (Gardner & Moore, 2006).

How does it work?

Mental skills training

Visualisation, concentration training, pre-performance routines and controlled breathing are trained like any other skill, through deliberate practice.

Injury and setbacks

Injury is not only physical. Sports psychology helps athletes process the psychological impact and return to peak performance with confidence.
