Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Learn to live with difficult thoughts and feelings without fighting them. ACT helps you move toward what truly matters in your life.

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy?

ACT takes a different approach to difficult thoughts and feelings. Instead of reducing or eliminating them, ACT teaches you to accept them and take committed action aligned with your personal values.

The psychological flexibility you develop allows you to engage more fully with life, even when internal struggles continue.

Evidence base: More than 300 randomised controlled trials demonstrate ACT's effectiveness for anxiety, depression, chronic pain and burnout. It is recommended by international clinical guidelines.

How does it work?

Acceptance: not fighting

ACT doesn't aim to remove difficult thoughts, instead you learn to see them from a distance, without letting them control your actions.

Commitment: meaningful action

Once you've clarified what truly matters (your values), you commit to action in those directions, even when fear or sadness is present.

What can you expect?

1

Together you explore what you're struggling with and which values are important to you.

2

You learn to 'defuse' from unhelpful thoughts, seeing them as mental events, not facts.

3

Mindfulness exercises help you stay present rather than caught in worry or rumination.

4

You identify your core values in key areas: relationships, work, health, personal growth.

5

You commit to small actions aligned with those values, building momentum step by step.
