Psychomotor therapy (PMT)
Body and mind are inseparably connected. Psychomotor therapy uses movement and body awareness as therapeutic tools.
What is Psychomotor therapy?
Psychomotor therapy uses movement, physical experience and body awareness as the primary medium for psychological change. Psychological problems are expressed in the body, in tension, posture, movement and breathing, and can be addressed at that level.
PMT is particularly valuable for people who find verbal therapy difficult, where somatic symptoms are prominent, or who have experienced trauma that is 'locked' in the body.
How does it work?
Movement as language
Through exercises, relaxation and creative body work, you explore how emotions live in your body and how to work with them differently.
Body as compass
Your body gives constant signals about what you need and where you hold tension. PMT teaches you to read and trust these signals.
